Editor's Review

GI Joe's Army Surplus in Newport News, VA, stands out as a local treasure trove for military gear and outdoor enthusiasts. The reviews tell a lively story of customer experiences that range from sunshiny praises to stormy criticisms. For instance, Vaughan Edwards couldn’t help but rave, saying, 'Great store everyone very friendly even the pets,' highlighting the welcoming atmosphere. Customers do appreciate the vast selection of surplus items, which can be quite impressive. However, this same selection often comes with a hefty price tag, as noted by one disappointed customer: 'Prices are not "surplus". Most items are more expensive than online.'

What really caught my attention was the mixed sentiments around organization. Many patrons, like pts pts, mentioned that 'it's quite difficult to find things' due to the cluttered layout. Items seem to be piled high and may even obstruct aisles, which raises some eyebrows about safety. Despite this, some, like Donte Hill, find the charm in the chaos, saying, 'Had a great conversation and was able to get ahold of one.' It’s a place where stories are shared and connections are made, but perhaps not the most convenient shopping experience.

Best for: This store is best for military enthusiasts and treasure hunters looking for unique surplus items.

Not organized at all. Everything is thrown against the walls and stacked to the ceiling. Prices are not "surplus". Most items are more expensive than online. Not a great store.

Awesome selection of Surplus: but prices are quite high. Tight store, and therefore, quite difficult to find things. So you must ask. Im guessing as new things show up- they get piled on the floor until they can find shelf space

Stopped by on a unicorn hunt. An old Army Parka (anorak). Had a great conversation and was able to get ahold of one. Definitely coming back to explore
